EMS and Ambulance Transport Services
Benton County Fire District #1 (BCFD#1) currently operates two ambulances for emergency medical response. EMS calls account for over 50% of all of Fire District #1’s calls for emergency services. The District has responders at all training levels (EMS, Advanced EMT, Paramedic).
Fee-Based Service
BCFD#1 does not have an EMS tax levy and charges for emergency transport services and mileage from the pick-up location to the nearest hospital (or hospital requested by patient). If a patient chooses not to be transported but medical services are provided, there is a charge for those medical services. All fees are separate from your fire protection tax levy.
Ambulance Billing
If you receive emergency medical services, the Fire District’s third party vendor, Systems Design West (SDW), will bill your insurance carrier or Medicare/Medicaid. After the Fire District receives the payment, you will receive a bill for the remainder of your ambulance charges. BCFD#1 partners with surrounding agencies to provide additional ambulances or services needed including air transport. Private ambulance companies normally handle non-emergency ambulance service.
To make a payment, request a duplicate statement, or inquire on a bill for services, SDW may be contacted at 360-394-7010, Monday – Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. You may visit their website at www.emspatient.com/bcfd1/.
